"Language is a gift". We can say a lot with just a few words. On Sunday the 13th of September (2020), people from Laak came together for the Parelsnoer festival in the Laaktheater. The festival was a closing event for the project 'Een Snoer van Parels' (“a string of pearls”) that took place in the libraries of Transvaal, Escamp, Schilderswijk, Segbroek and Laakkwartier.

Deputy mayor Robert van Asten opened the afternoon and the exhibition 'Pearls of Portraits' by photographer Mieke Schlaman. The anthology 'This is how the core remains' was given by the director of the Public Library in The Hague, Paul Broekhoff. Allison Smith played her oboe and block flutes and dozens of short stories and poems were read. This film was made by Dennis Simonis.
