"We have to flee" is a moving play that is for a large part based on the true story of a girl from The Hague during the years of occupation, 1940-1945. It depicts how the war increasingly and dramatically affects the daily life of an artistic family for whom theatre and music play a central role. Through a simple and intimate setting and choice of music, which the father enjoyed playing, the pupils are drawn into the experiences of a high-spirited girl named Barbara. She has three school friends: Eva, Wies and Katja. The Second World War will leave its mark on the children's lives forever.
