"Contempt it is not to be slapped, but to be ignored by one's peers"

An old actor loves both the stage and the camera lens. He wish he could play his first leading role : his own role. His character is staging a play about a cobbler who wish he could represent the common people to the presidential election. In 2012 Cabu, Wolinski and Charb of Charlie Hebdo did not know they would be murdered.

What's real and what's not? The actor's memories question the director's projections.

In our series ‘4Hoog tells a story’ artistic director Frans Van der Aa tells a story from the book 'Bij uil thuis' (At Owl's Home) by Arnold Lobel: 'Rare Bobbels'.

Lonneke van Leth Dans was inspired for this short performance by Edward Hopper’s work “Morning Sun”.

MENA Film Festival The Hague shows us a contemporary view on the cultural, political, social and artistc situation of the Middel-East and Northern-Africa through the eyes of filmmakers from these regions. On May 20, 21 and 22 we will show drie films documentaries, and short films, selected by our festivaldirector Mohammad Amin.

Over 16 years, the camera caught femininity searching for itself. This is not a dancing abecedarium nor a brochure of playmates, nor a feminist petition, women here confide serenely and freely. Contemporary Middle-Eastern Dancer Assia Guemra is a former France Taekwondo champion. Her belt is neither a nightclub accessory nor a cinematographic lure but gives its tempo to the belly. The filmmaker gets close to the womb and understands that women mirror him.

Laaktheater Thuis is the digital platform of Laaktheater. Laaktheater is the theatre of district Laak. We want to bring art and culture closer to the people. Just around the corner, in our theatre you can see and experience art and get involved in many different ways. With Laaktheater Thuis we come to you in your living room. You can watch performances, documentaries and take part in art classes on your mobile phone, computer or iPad.

This is one of the ways we want to make art personal. As Laaktheater we want to make the programme with people who are eager to share their love for culture; their love of film, photography, (youth) theatre or music.

Our programme is created by people with ideas who just drop in and we also meet people with ideas in the neighbourhood. And all these people with all these ideas together result in a wonderful programme that we are incredibly proud of.

Would you like to contribute to our (digital) programme? Then send us an e-mail at: sigrid@laaktheater.nl or info@laaktheater.nl. Then together we can explore what and how we can do something for Laak.
